Mike Luongo's Bio
Born in Marydel, DE in 1986, Mike Luongo discovered his passion for shooting at just 13 years old. He developed his skills on some of the premier courses along Maryland’s Eastern Shore, building his foundation through dedication, discipline, and countless hours on the range.
Largely self-taught in his early years, Mike sharpened his abilities with guidance from respected shooters such as Gary Phillips and Anthony Materese. Their mentorship, combined with Mike’s relentless drive, helped shape both his competitive success and his coaching philosophy.
At 18, Mike began teaching while working at Pintail Point. Starting from the ground up — trapping for groups, loading traps, and working tournaments at clubs across the Eastern Shore — he gained a comprehensive understanding of the sport from every angle. This hands-on experience provided insights that few instructors possess.
After college, Mike accepted his first professional role at just 22 years old as Club Pro at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort. There, he dedicated multiple hours each day to private instruction while also setting targets for the course. Designing target presentations and coaching shooters daily further deepened his expertise in target reading, course management, and competitive strategy.
In 2006, Mike earned All-American honors and has since become a multiple-time All-American shooter. His competitive achievements reflect not only talent, but consistency, discipline, and a deep understanding of the game.
Today, Mike brings that same passion and experience to every lesson. His proven method — developed through years of competition, coaching, and course design — focuses on learning to control the bird, reading target presentations, developing instinct, and strengthening hand-eye coordination. From beginners to elite competitors, Mike’s dynamic approach builds confidence, consistency, and a true feel for the game.
